Kenyan Messianic Jews Need Help

Kisumu Messianic Jewish community

The Kisumu Messianic Jewish community is composed of over five hundred people who worship regularly and pray for the well-being of Israel.

On December 27, 2007, disputed presidential elections between then-President Mwai Kibaki and challenger Raila Odinga sparked nation-wide violence between members of the Kikuyu tribe and Luo.

In Kisumu, capital of the Luo province, Luo rioters attacked a group of Kikuyu Messianic Jews, burning their synagogue (pictured below) and chasing them into the woods. The community had completed building its now-destroyed synagogue in November, 2006.

Though the Kikuyu were generally supporters of Kibaki and the Luo were generally supporters of Odinga, the community of Messianic Jews faced this hardship not because of their political affiliation, but because of their being Kikuyu

A note from the community:
Shalom we find Paul discussing the church, 59 A.D in the following manner. He says for as the body is one, and hath many members and all the members being many are one body so also is Meshiah. (1 Cor. 12:12) The church therefore existed as one body to this time and the word said further that when one member is honoured all members rejoice with it.

It is then with this reason Kenyan Meshianic Jews come to you all the world Jews to pray with them as prayer is the only weapon. It was on Thursday when Kenyan were holding their election after this election come Yomshishi the presidential tally was done and the big tribe won with a narrow margin this tribe as it had scattered allover the country and they are God fearing people this is where the converted Meshianic people come from, okay those converted Jews from Nyanza province and Western Province were attacked, their supermarkets looted properties burnt, and because they are well known they are from the Big tribe (Kikuyu’s)

They were flashed out of their homes they didn’t prepare for Sabbath they didn’t rest the Sabbath nor slept in houses they spend the nights from Friday till now in forests and some in police stations no communications nor enough food so its our requests you pray with us for where we are we can’t be able to reach them and safe them or bring them out of where they are and with that situation the Synagogue in the photo was reduced to ashes nothing was left for some of our members in Mumias and Kisumu area no one can reach them this Synagogue was built on 25th Nov. 2006. The other Synagogue left which you can see people standing is the only Synagogue left in the area and is under threat also its members are spending nights and days in police stations their house were burnt.we have about 200-500 members who are still in the cold

The photo of the synagogue with people are from the right is the Deputy Rabii of the Meshianic Jews of Kenya, Rabii, in charge of the Kenyan jews Elder in charge of the Kisumu community, whose all of his property was burnt to ashes.
